Plato

Human soul is said to be formed of 3 parts: Reason, Spirit and Appetite.Reason may conflict with appetite, and to prevail against appetite it must have the support of the spirit.Bravery consists in the alliance of reason and the spirited part against desire, and it is therefore defined in terms of both cognitive and non-cognitive elements.
